Staffing Support for your unique need
DELTA leaders have been providing trained, well supported staff to Special Education classrooms for over 25 years. This deep experience helps us understand the complexity of giving the student, IEP Manager, Building Leader and Department the solutions you seek.
Commitment
Certainly having a personalized license plate doesn’t tell a lot about who we are. But, it just might let you know we are committed to paying attention to people who have some complicated behaviors.
In the Greek alphabet, the letter delta is a triangle. In research about behavior, the delta symbol is used to indicate a change in one of the intervention variables. Our focus on behavior change led to choosing DELTA Behavior as our new name. We hope that when you see a situation that requires change, you’ll reach out to us and see if we can provide some help.
DELTA Philosophy
At DELTA we apply a behavior analytic approach to our work.
We train our staff to teach students using procedures and concepts that are backed up by many years of behavioral research. The science of applied behavior analysis is the standard for learning. That does not mean that the emotional, sensory or personal style needs of the individual are not important. They are, and we want to account for those needs when seeking solutions to teach new behaviors. What that behavior analytic approach does mean, is that we accept the responsibility to find key features on how to implement change and to critically and objectively look at the results. We do not accept that individuals must change on their own. It is our job to find what works within the framework of the IEP Manager’s goals for the student.
Consistent with the body of research about behavioral interventions and with the ethics of working in human services, we use the least restrictive techniques possible. We adhere to the positive behavior support expectations of the State of Washington Developmental Disabilities Administration and to the OSPI requirements for public school students. All DELTA staff have Right Response training and maintain that certification yearly.
Services
Behavior Technicians
DELTA primarily focuses on providing staff for School Districts. Behavior Technicians provide general support of the IEP teaching interventions, skill acquisition training and safety support for the widest range of challenging behaviors.
We can place a staff person in a school, in the community work placement, in a transition program or other specially designed education program.
Consultation/Program Support
In addition to direct support Behavior Technicians, DELTA staff have the experience in a variety of unique school programming situations to assist with program development and team problem solving when particularly challenging situations arise. We have been a part of community based, home based and mixed environment student programs. We will have BCBA staff available for situations requiring that certification.
Training
DELTA has designed several training seminars that deal with different aspects of services for teachers, para-educators and direct intervention staff working with individuals who stretch the limits of their environment.
We have training protocols for responding to situations involving assaultive and destructive incidents that we train to all our staff and may offer that same training to others.
Increasing understanding of the key concepts of learning by reinforcement has great benefit for staff teams in educational or residential environments, and seminars on those and related topics can be made available. We approach this training in a way to make it more interesting and relatable (and maybe even a little more fun).

FAQ
-
All we need to get started is a clearly identified need for support. You can reach out to us and discuss the situation. There aren’t many complications that we wouldn’t have any previous experience with.

Because we are hiring really good Behavior Technicians, we want to offer them a stable assignment. So, we generally want them to work the balance of the current school year. We typically will ask our Behavior Technicians to work full school days, or full shifts of six or more hours if outside a school setting

We very much appreciate a great college education and extensive experience with young people, but we have found that willingness to learn, ability to follow DELTA and IEP Manager protocols and reliability are actually more critical factors for success. Staff we have trained in the past have gone on to become ABA Center Owners, General Education and Special Education Teachers, BCBA and Executive Directors in Healthcare fields. Some of our Behavior Tech staff will have RBT or CBT credentials.
Sometimes a little extra support makes the difference.
